Andrew Herbst

MEET THE ARTIST

Working artist and musician, Andrew Herbst studied art at the Minneapolis College of Art and Design. He is a painter, illustrator, T-shirt maker, and graphic designer, with works on display at Foundation Studios, in the River Arts District of Asheville.

Asked about his approach to art Andrew tells us, “As people, we subconsciously carry things that we all share: pop culture tastes, politics, emotions, and the overarching wonder of what it is to be alive. Our understanding of these can be validated, challenged, and skewed just enough to ignite our curiosity and urge us to collect objects that give us meaning every time we look at them, or wear them. My goal is to show these beautiful hard truths: horrors, silly faces, joyous moments, and static beauty that exists in how we perceive the factual world…skewed just enough to want to look at over and over again.”
