ABOUT THE WORK

“The making of this book was a process of listening, responding, observing, and distilling. An alchemical process, with the threadline of an investigation with grief. After a long break from having a regular creative practice, this book was an entry back into making for me. It invited me to sit with what is present in my own body and life, and to respond intuitively with relationships of colors and shapes and exploration of language. A sort of dance, if you will.

In learning to befriend grief, I am learning that it is vital to hold space for the feelings that come up around the changing of our planet, of our relationships with one another and with our environment, and the loss of ones we hold dear. Grief is not something that we eventually rid ourselves of, but is rather a companion that travels with us through life, with different intensities in different seasons. Loss is loss is loss, but our capacity to experience grief is quite profound.”
