Mr. Mudmarsh with his Enemy’s Skull

Mr. Mudmarsh is a devilish rascal! To discover the extent of his rascality, as well garner clues as to whose skull it is, you may wish to read Lament for Brookings, an absurd and disturbing (and quite original) story, not for the trusting at heart.

Before you begin cutting I suggest making a copy of your cut-out paper puppet. This copy can be your “practice” doll. Once you've figured out how the whole thing works you’re ready for the real deal! I suggest you use a very sharp knife or razor-blade when making the cut across Mr. Mudmarsh’s forearms. If your cutting implement is too dull, it will produce a ‘wrinkled’ cut, that is very noticeable. Read all instructions before beginning.

Congratulations!

You’re the proud owner of something weird!

A couple of hints going forward. Always cut “wider” than “narrower". You can always go back in and shave edges off. If you cut on the dotted lines you’ll be safe.

Step 1

Cut out all there pieces. Using a very sharp knife or razor, slice the dotted lines on both forearms of Mr. Mudmarsh (where the pencil is pointing).

Step 2

Insert the right arm into place. You may have to do a little trimming to get it to fit in. Try to align the lines on the forearm to the lines on the elbow/upper arm. They may not align perfectly, but it will be close enough!

Step 3

Insert the left arm, which may entail trimming (just like the right arm). You can see how the 3D arc forms. .

Step 4

Turn it over and bend the flaps towards the center. This helps to secure the hands in place. If you want, you can tape the back flaps to provide more support. Sometimes I do, sometimes I don’t.

Step 5

Fold the book support where it says “Fold Here.”

Step 6

Attach the Book Support to the back. I use tape. Center the Support down Mr. Mudmarsh’s spine.

Your done! Flip it back over and stick it in between some books and stare at it!!

Keep staring at it!
