ABOUT THE WORK

“This creation feels like a contact point for many of the things I think about, and approach in my process as an artist. Religion, gender, and specifically masculinity, the disintegration of these forms and my imaginings of what we could build in their stead. I’ve been thinking a lot recently, about how it’s not enough to just be critical or disillusioned. These are beginnings, but to stay there feels privileged, meanwhile the world asks for us to move beyond this. It is not enough to just be angry. Our responsibility must be to imagine and build something better. Creating visual arts is just one way for me to approach this responsibility. When I work on art, it works on me. We dialogue together. We imagine together. This book is one of those attempts at that.”
